work, work, work

I have been keeping busy getting ready for the Open Air Market starting in less than 3 weeks! Sat. -Mon. in Downtown Talkeetna. I will have a few new items this year like these women's skirts (that can also be a dress or top in 2 styles), hand dyed cotton scarves, the kids fairy skirts, handmade recycled crayons, my soy candles are now in jars instead of tins and of course a ton of hand batiked soywax clothing in sizes Newborn- XL Adult, long and short sleeve shirts, dresses, onesies etc.. These photos are the dresses in the works. They are done now but I need some photos, I like them alot. I've also been trying out several new designs for this year ... Stay tuned it's almost summer:0)

1st fairy skirt

These little fabric Tutu's I'm calling "Fairy Skirts" are going to look so much cuter on little girls than on the hangar. This was my first one. I'm up to 5 in a couple different color scemes. It's a project I'm trying out and can make while sitting in my booth this summer on the weekends. I also think they would be really cute with one of my onesies or T's on with it... They can be made with both new and recycled material. More photos to come.

Rainbow

OK, this is from last year. It's not this green here yet, but soon it will be. We are ready for summer!

On a walk with friends...

It's been so nice out lately, Jaxon has been riding his bike everyday. This Friday when he got off the bus some friends met us for a walk (Jax rode his bike for most of it but parked it to have some snow fun with the little boys). It was so warm out the boys all wanted their shirts off, it really was warm despite the snowy backdrop. No better way to cool off than a snowball fight without shirts on. Here's Porter, Hawken and Jaxon soaking in some much needed Vitamin D on those white  Alaskan bellies...

It's getting warm here finally

Callen

This is my friend's almost one year old Callen. He's walking now so watch out! His big bro Porter is on my blog often.

Hawken

VW BUS

One of my new designs... This is so cute on the front and back of a baby onesie! I'm also doing other sizes and another version that I'll have to get a photo of. A friend special ordered the design and I like how it turned out enough to do some for my booth this summer.

Dye & Boil

Here are two of the many steps in my BATIK process. Dyeing the clothing and Boiling out the soywax.

Hawk with an antler

Yes that is a moose antler Hawken's hand is on. He was using it as a "controller" when he fell asleep. The antler was in the car because Jaxon had taken it to school for show and tell. His bus driver didn't look thrilled that morning when I sent him to school with it, so I picked him and his antler up after school that afternoon. Luna found it and brought it home last week. She was chewing on it in the driveway and wanted to keep it for herself but Andy took it... Poor dog. When we got home he slept on the couch for quite awhile. In this photo he looks like a giant.

My Soy Candles

Well it's the 5 week count down to the market opening and I'm keeping pretty busy making stuff. I have some new Batik Clothing designs I'm excited about. Also my candles have changed a little. Rather than order tins from Seattle I found some small glass jars here in Alaska, that means no shipping fees. I made some this week and like how they came out!

Open Air Market is here in Talkeetna Alaska Mid May-Mid Sept. Sat. Sun. Mon. 10-6. Everything is handmade, and there are some talented artists up here. In my booth I will have my Batiked clothing, sizes for the whole family Newborn- XL Adult (all batiked by hand with soywax), my All Natural Soy Candles in a variety of scents, Hand Made Recycled Crayons in recycled paper coffee cozy box, Hand Dyed Scarves (a new item), Convertible Skirt, Top, Dress for women. These are new and I think going to turn out really cool! Photos soon... I will also have a rack of clothing at the little log cabin visitors center on the corner of Spur Rd. and Main St. in Downtown Talkeetna (across the street from my old shop for the last 2 yrs.) :0)    Also find me at www.mountntopdesigns.com

messy art wall

The "art wall" is a mess right now, every so often I have to get it and under control and sift though the layers. That's probably due to happen soon, "Spring Cleaning Mode" should kick in any day now... This Dragonfly Pencil drawing of Jaxon's is one of my all time favs I think.

more art...

by Jax 7 yrs. one of these is a great Bald Eagle he brought home from school this week, one is a skater guy and the other is a cool Alaskan moose scene. Nice job Jaxon!

Jax Art

I (like most mom's) love to show off my kids accomplishments, and for awhile now I have wanted to share some of Jaxon's art. He LOVES to draw and has a talent for it. Which we are pretty sure he got from me...

I love these lizards so much I put them in the frames I made. We already have piles and boxes of artwork and the collection is only growing. He also likes to make his own books, they are really cool too.

photo frame

I had this little frame collage around for quite awhile (I think it was a "free box" score) and I finally put photos in it this winter. The black and whites are me as a baby...

Biker Boy

my boys...

playing on the snow bank...

The snow is shrinking, but it's still out there, so we are still having fun on it. This is our snow bank on the edge of the yard near ther top of the driveway.

Snow Biking

Hawken will most likely learn to ride a bike this year, just so he can keep up with his big bro Jax...

Easter Fun...

The boys got matching squirt guns and lizard covered bouncey balls  for Easter this year. And even though it's not quite squirt gun season here yet,
that hasn't stopped them from taking them outside anyway. Jaxon has also been
riding his bike everyday since the sun's been out all week...
