Dirty

This is how boys have fun, too bad he got a flat tire doing it... We do love our Jeeps! He was coming back out a trail with some friends from a Salmon fishing spot in our area, not just out getting his rig dirty.

Jax at Tigger Lake

Jax and I took a wrong turn on this little hike which made it a really long hike! Oops... Luckily it was a nice day and we had a bottle of water with us. Then we stopped on our way back to the car at a cafe and had a quick snack, Birch Cookies made with Birch tree syrup, yum. The local "nordic ski club" created a bunch of nice x-country trails in the woods back here the last few years. They cross lakes and swamps and connect to each other. If I can get some skiis again (mine broke last year and my boots from the "free box" were never very comfy anyway) I'm sure I will get lost a bunch back here this winter. You really only have to worry about Moose in the winter since the bears are all asleep. As long as you don't surprise them and give them plenty of space they tolerate people and dogs pretty well. Goodbye summer, it's quickly turning to fall here.

Our Big 3rd Grader

That's right Jaxon started his first day of third grade toady! Wow is all I can say about that. He had his choice of a desk in his new room and he choose one right up front. Pretty cool. He also just finished a 214 page book last night. Sure it had some "comic strip" type pages in it but it was a pretty thick hard back book called "Big Nate in a class  by himself". He wants to look for part two next at the Library. He is still quite proud of his Library Card too. What a good kid we have! I have taken a photo infront of this mural, by Shannon Cartwright, every year since Kindergarten. Cheers to the 3rd Grade!

Hello Boat...

Hawken waved at this boat this morning on the Susitna River, then the waves from the boat washed in and scared him. He took off running up the beach. It was cute... We went for a walk after dropping Jaxon off at the "First Day Of School". It's Fall here already, where did the summer go?!
