The story of raising two little men like wolves in the wilds of Alaska. From our house in the woods with a garden, a berry patch, 2 dogs and a cat. Life as a mom and artist is never dull here in Talkeetna. Stay tuned to hear more about our adventures and wildlife stories as they unfold....

Jaxon's 1st Tooth
My boy is growing up, he lost his first tooth today! It was loose as of yesterday and we didn't expect it to fall out so fast, but this morning it did, a bottom middle one. To celebrate we went to the library (he has his own card now and is very proud of it) and the playground, which is right next to it (there is even a little path through the woods and a bridge over a creek to connect the them). It makes for a nice one stop outing. I know it looks like he's lost an upper tooth but that one a dentist removed when he was two after a fall on a coffee table, it was too broken to fix and it still has not started coming in yet. His pink cheeks are proof of the fun he just had for almost an hour at the playground...

Sidewalk Chalk
"Bike path chalk" that is. We don't have sidewalks here in Talkeetna but we do have an awesome 14 mile long bike path and that is where we do our sidewalk chalk art on nice summer days like today. Jax is quite an artist and sometimes we also write messages for bike riders to read as they cruise by.

The Market
My home away from home. On the weekends anyway... I'm there 10-6 on Sat/Sun/Mon. It's fun and a great group of Artists to hang out with rain or shine. Come if you can we will be there until mid- Sept. I have even been busy Batiking on my days off. Iv'e had a few special orders and I'm working on a batch of baby stuff for a wholesale account with the "Maternity Boutique" at the hospital in Anchorage, in fact I have batiking to do. Gotta go...
Moo-Gon
Moose on Parade is a local fundraiser held on the 4th of July here in Downtown Talkeetna. The moose, made by locals, will be in the parade and then auctioned off in the Village Park. Ours was a group effort by the open air market artisans. He is a Dragon/Moose named "Moo-Gon". Also, that is my booth there behind him... Below is the description that is posted with it.
My mother is a moose and my father is a
dragon.Being born in Alaska makes it very
useful to be half dragon, I can always start
a fire on cold winter days. In the summer
I can eat my very favorite food,
FIREWEED FLOWERS! The only problem
is they make me burp FIRE...
