A Living Room

It seems like ages since we have had a living room and it kind of has been. It's alot like how much you appreciate running water again after going without it for a time. I can't help but remember living in our RV for a few summers before working our way up to where we are now. It's alot different when you do it yourself, then add the challenge of trying to live comfortably with kids in a construction zone while building. But as you can see it works and it's how many families up here have to do it. It's been a process but totally worth it. Andy built a beautiful castle to raise our kids in and I helped a little too... Thanx again babe, love you! My decor consists of; my new rug, (on sale at Freddy's) luv it, my $25 couch (bought locally and it's a hideabed), Andy's deer hide over the back of it (shot in Colorado), my Grandma Barb's trunk (given to her as a youngster then passed on to my aunt Kerry who gave it to me and I flew it up to Alaska last fall, Thanx, Grama & Aunt K. we love it), the curtains I just made (with $1.50/yd. clearance fabric) hanging from dowels, child's rocking chair (my only other family item, it was my mom's then mine now my boys use it), corner shelf Andy built with scraps and my new bookshelf (also on sale at Freddy's last week) with a carpet scrap in front of it. There you go, my style in a nutshell: eco-thrift-shabby chic. I guess, ok I just made that up, I don't really have a decor style and I like to mix things up so it's always changing anyway. As you can see I'm having fun playing with all our new space... Next time your at a thrift store or yard sale be creative and renew peoples old stuff into your new stuff, there's plenty of "good old stuff" out there put it to use.
