It's the end of the season...

Well we closed up shop this week, the season is over. The little outdoor store built around a tree was good to us this summer and we'll be back next year... My space was getting pretty empty anyway and what I had left in baby T's went to Dos Manos Gallery on N. Lights Blvd. in Anchorage. Talkeetna is quiet again. Fall is here and winter just around the corner, at least the sun finally came around! Better late than never...

Before & After

OK it's After and then Before the way these photos uploaded but you get the idea... Here's our corner! Our home for the summer in the heart of Historic Downtown Talkeetna. I opened for Mother's Day Weekend and will reopen next weekend for the season (thru Sept. if weather is good). We will have ice cream and drinks for sale from the truck soon too. I got alot of compliments out there this week and people like my mural that spans the front when I'm closed. Andy also built a nice little shed for me to put my stock in at night. It should be a fun and busy summer for us. I am also excited because my friend Tamra (for 17 years now we have known and loved each other, she's like a little sister to me) got her ticket yesterday and will be up here for just over 2 months! She will be helping us out with the boys and at our shops while she is here. I can't wait to show her around our awsome little corner of the world. Talkeetna is a trip in the summer compared to the sleepy quiet winters. Drones of tourists wander the streets with their cameras dangling from their necks or glued to an eye, paying attention to nothing else. It's pretty funny and our spot is a perfect place to people watch from. I'm sure we will also get lots of funny questions about our town and Alaska. Check back for more about our new location and summer fun...

New Batiks

Here are a couple new Soywax Batiks I have made. They will be in the upcoming Group Fiber Arts Show at our Sheldon Community Arts Hangar here in downtown Talkeetna, the reception is 4-7 pm on the second Saturday in May and will be up until early June. They are also using one or both of these photos on the flyer advertising the show. This summer at my store I will be participating in the "Second Saturday Art Walk" each month. Several galleries, gift shops and cafes feature an artist and put out some refreshments so people can walk around town and stop at them all. Should be a good way to get the word out about my shop and put out some extra art too, I have quite a bit right now. We are keeping busy, I'm making stock for the summer and getting ready to start spiffing up my space downtown. Hoping for a busy summer, we have a great spot. I will add photos of it in May when I open for Mother's Day.
Happy Spring to All & Love from Alaska!
